Seroepidemiologic Study of Hepatitis Viral Antigens-Antibodies in the Korean Domestic Ducks

Abstract
The experiment was designed to study on the epidemical feature and life cycle of Hepatitis Bvirus.
The following results were obtained through the study on 270 serum specimen from Korean domestic ducks which were collected in the provincial areas of Kyunggi and Chungnam from 1991 and 1992 in order to investigate the presence of hepatitis virus
antigen and antibody.
1. The positive rate of hepatitis virus antigen and antibody in the ducks was HBsAg 8.0%, HBsAb 15.5%, anti-HBcIgG8.5% and anti-HCV 0.0%.
The positive rate in Chungnam area was shown as HBsAg 12.0%, HBsAb 22.0%, anti-HBc IgG 9.0%, and anti-HCV 0.0%.
Kyunggi area was shown as HBsAg 4.0%, HBsAb 9.0%, anti-HBc IgG 8.0% and anti-HCV 0.0%.
In sexual positie rate, male ducks have been shown to possess HBsAg 6.1%, HBsAb 18.4%, anti-HBc IgG 5.3% and anti-HCV 0.0%. On the other hand, female ducks were shown to have HBsAg 10.5%, HBsAb 11.6%, anti-HBc IgG 12.8% and anti-HCV 0.0%.
2. In comparison of hepatitis positive rate and biochemical function test in the ducks, HBsAg positive was 4 cases, mean value of biochemical function test showed GOT 11.7U/L, GPT 14.5U/L, creatinine 0.2mg/dl, and LDH 1.228U/L, HBsAb positive was
18
cases, mean value of biochemical function test showed GDT 16.5U/L, GPT 13.8U/L, creatinine 0.2mg/dl and LDH 1.178U/L.
3. DNA hybridization test was employed to detect hepatitis B virus DNA in the ducks serum, HBV DNA was determined in 8 samples by the method, and the results showed all negative.
